This 2-day, course plus 2 recall days over 6 months focuses on planning live with people who use services. The principals followed are based on ways of building competence, confidence and integrity. Over the course we will share everyday life experiences, learn about self and others, develop positive relationships with people, commit to doing the right thing that has a positive difference for the person we a planning with.
For these workers, direct support work has meaning mostly because
of what the relationship with people with disabilities makes possible.
They use strong words to describe their relationships with the people
they assist: alliance, partnership, interdependency, friendship, closeness,
Intimacy. Which of these words apply to a particular relationship
depends on the chemistry between the people involved; all of them
Indicate the importance of the person-to-person aspects of meaningful Work.
This creative and powerful way of building plans, and relationships will make a positive difference. The 2-day planning will look at the power of resourcefulness. Each person with their circle of support will over the 2 days develop a person centred plan and more importantly an clear action plan, with a commitment from people to work towards agreed action.
