The teams of participants for the programme will be formed ,via individuals and their families. Various service personnel across services will be consulted as to which families and individuals were either requesting a Person Centred Plan or wished to have more knowledge about the developments of personalisation. The service staff will then recruit to participate on the course based on their roles and responsibilities.

The service staff will be then recruited to participate on the course based on their professional connection with the individual and families, thus the teams should be diverse in the level of service personnel, which attended the programme.

This programme is an innovative way for services to deliver training, and show great benefits for completing the recruitment of participants in this way. The benefits will include people who use service being able to attend the training sessions and being able to directly make amendments to the programme, depending on their individual needs.

Families are central to the training and useful to learn and plan together with service staff rather than separately as is done traditionally.  Training and learning with families and individuals results greater insight to the needs and wants, and will gave live examples of how to facilitate plans that focus on people working together. Often training tells rather than shows. This approach is found to be particularly useful for knowing the “HOW” to implement a PCP rather than just “WHAT” a PCP is.

It is suggested that the programme will consist of 7 modules over 2 years. Building towards Leadership for change.

It is an exciting practical programme, designed to enable Organizations become more person centred and responsive to the people they support.

The research encourages Organizations to invest in practical person centred thinking skills for managers, linking learning to organisational changes and investing in facilitators/coaches.

The programme aims to achieve the following outcomes:

The people supported in your organization will have better lives as those who support them are more empowered to listen and act on what they hear. Families will be essential partners in developing what happens locally.

Research

During the programme, research will need to be undertaken from the individual participants as to what may help or hinder training, facilitation and implementation.
